Lian was born in England and raised in Hertfordshire and Paris. From Malaysian/Chinese heritage, Lian has always been bathed in imagery from a young age. As a teenager she found success as an actress working notably with the film directors Anthony Minghella and Stanley Kubrick.

Whilst living in Paris, France, Lian was awarded the Ministere de la culture D.R.A.C Ile de France (financial bourse) for her personal project *Midge. This recognition led to the beginning of her outstanding career as freelance photographer working for editorial and global advertising campaigns.

In 2007, Lian was invited by George Berman to work for one year for his production company Partizan in London. During her time there, Lian directed three music videos:

Artist Peter Von Poehl - Track/Scorpion Grass,( 2D animation),

Artist Peter Von Poehl - Track/Travelers, (live action)

Artist Franksmusic - Track/3LW, (live action).

Lian also conceived, directed and produced exclusively for the Parisian department store *Le Bon Marché* : 18 short one minute films, that were part of a visual itinerary for the opening of the women’s wear department. The exhibition opened in September 2005 for a duration of three weeks.
